There have been countless variations on a classic ribbed hat - and here is mine. The Nomad Beanie has become a mountain life staple in my collection and is the perfect design for cooler weather adventures. This pattern is written for 6 sizes and is easy to customize to the exact fit that you’d like. It is a great project for beginner and experienced knitters alike. I hope you enjoy knitting this quick and cozy beanie!

METHOD: knit in the round bottom up

SKILLS REQUIRED: knit, purl, joining in the round

SIZE: Newborn (Baby, Toddler, Child, Adult S/M, Adult L)

MATERIALS: 

  • 110 yds of Bulky Yarn (weight 5)            I recommend any of the following

    • Malabrigo “Chunky”

    • Lion Brand “Hue & Me”

    • Wool and the Gang “Alpachino Merino”

  • US size 10.5/6.5 mm, 16” circular needles

  • Stitch marker

  • Measuring tape/ruler

  • Scissors

 

YARDAGE: appx 65 (65, 80, 90, 110, 127)  yards

FINAL CIRCUMFERENCE: appx 14” (18”, 19”, 19”, 21”, 23”)

GAUGE : 8 stitches and 9 rows = 2” x 2” Measured in 1x1 rib  on Size 10.5  (6.5 mm) needles, unblocked
