STORY OF THE YARN YURT
The story of the Yarn Yurt begins 6 years ago. My husband and I were both going to college and thought it would be fun to live in a yurt. My father in law has built several yurts, so over the summer in between semesters, he helped us build a 20 foot yurt that we lived in for two years in Eastern Idaho. It was the most incredible and life changing experience. Living minimally and small adjusted my view on how to live.

Years later, after running Idaho Stitched out of my living room/toddler's closet, I needed a bigger space. My father in law suggested a yurt, and it seemed like the perfect idea! We had the most of the materials from a previous yurt he had worked on, so that worked out great. The yurt is on property in the mountains in Southeast Idaho, surrounded by forest and great views.

Spring 2024, the Yarn Yurt opened for business. I use it to host local knit nights and teach knitting workshops. I also use it as a shipping headquarters, place to sell yarn by appointment and online, and as a creative space. We will most likely have to move in a year or so for my husband's medical school training, so the future of the Yarn Yurt is unknown. Regardless, it has already been a great place for people to gather and create together.
